Uschi’s insides smell like lime. 2021, 1920x1440p, stop motion animation
Staging this animation was very fun! This bird figure came from my grandparents’ home in Germany. When it accidentally broke, I was pretty upset, but then I decided to make this stop-motion animation using its brokenness. Here I contemplate rebirth and reflection, with a coiling inner self emerging from the figure. For this I used wax-clay that has really interesting qualities for molding and reforming to hold its shape.
Crocodile Tears, 2019, Animation using Maya
This was my final for my 3D animation studio, and posed quite a challenge I was ready to take on! I knew I wanted to learn more about what I could do with Maya’s Bifrost simulations when going into making this, though I was advised against it. I learned a lot through the process.
MagMoth, 2019
This animation is primarily inspired by the fact that there are creatures which can sense and communicate through frequencies humans cannot perceive. Here there is a swarm of waxmoths surrounded by electrical towers, and the sound used is taken from recordings of magnetic waves hitting the earth’s atmosphere.
